Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Future Soul Tour has been in the Midwest as of late with Alabama Shakes. On Saturday night in Noblesville, IN, the TTB kicked off the first of four nights with the group. Then on Sunday the two bands were at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, MO. Last evening they made their way to Acrisure Amphitheater in Grand Rapids, MI.
Tuesday’s show included a pair of collaborative tunes. Towards the end of the TTB set, Brittany Howard appeared along with Alabama Shakes background vocalists Karita Law and Shanay Johnson for two Sly Stone songs. The 15 musicians kicked into “You Can Make It If You Try” from Sly and the Family Stone’s 1969 album Stand! This then led into “Everyday People” from the same record.
TTB’s performance began with the group’s original “Hear My Dear,” which the group had last played at the Beacon Theatre on 3/18/26. The band’s “Playing With My Emotions” came next and also made its tour debut. Other highlights included takes on Chuck Willis’ “I Feel So Bad,” and the Allman Brothers Band’s “Stand Back,” a version of “Midnight in Harlem” that featured a Kebbi Williams sax solo rather than a Derek Trucks’ guitar solo and a closing pairing of band original “I Want More” which segued into Santana’s “Soul Sacrifice”
Tonight TTB and Alabama Shakes will close out their four-show run at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, OH.
