On July 30, Fred Tackett and Scott Sharrard first appeared as a duo at the Egyptian Theater in Park City. This proved to be a taste of what was to come as the two Little Feat members have announced an album and tour.
Honest Men is set for release on September 18. The record will focus on their original songs, including those they’d written with Lowell George and Gregg Allman. Sharrard was Allman’s music director for many years, while Tackett wrote “Fool Yourself” for the Dixie Chicken album 15 years before he officially joined George and Little Feat.
Tackett hails their “total trust in each other,” and points to playing “that we don’t have to think about.” The two musicians have shared a live performance video that affirms this perspective. “Roll Um Easy” is the only pure cover on the album, a version of George’s “Roll Um Easy.”
The two musicians will take to the road in support of Honest Men starting on December 6 with a performance at Mountain Stage. They have confirmed dates into February, with the full itinerary listed below the video.
Honest Men can be pre-ordered and pre-saved here. “Roll Um Easy” is currently streaming.
