The Horse Comanche, the latest solo album from Chadwick Stokes of Dispatch and State Radio, came to fruition with the help of three producers of varying backgrounds who helped maintain a sound familiar to Stokes’ many fans. The album provides him with the space to experiment a bit with more lush and, at times, quirky musical landscapes. Stokes, who is no stranger to the role of an activist, continues to use his music as a platform to call attention to injustice around the world. “Our Lives Our Time,” the album’s first single, is a song that takes inventory of society’s many intolerances, particularly toward gay marriage and gender equality. Stokes’ passion for change, mixed with his musical ease, will continue to make him a voice worth listening to.
