On Saturday night Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors performed a standing room only show at SummerStage in New York’s Central Park.
The evening kicked off with the Spin Doctors performing "Still A Gorilla," followed by a rousing version of "You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast," "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong," and a cover of Prince's "Purple Rain" that had the entire crowd singing along.
Next up was a high-energy set from the Gin Blossoms, opening with "Follow You Down." Their set also included an appearance by Blues Traveler's Ben Wilson on keyboards for "Hands Are Tied," followed by a trio of hits: "Found Out About You," "Allison Road," and "Hey Jealousy."
As the sun finally set on Central Park, Blues Traveler took the stage and opened with "Run-Around" and, recognizing the venue's milieu, "Dropping Some NYC." In one of the evening's highlights, old bandmate and Spin Doctors lead singer Chris Barron joined the band to sing their tribute to Sanford and Son, "Champipple" (Popper advised against trying it at home). The set continued with an instrumental cover of "Jesus Christ Superstar," concluded with "Hook," and finished with an encore cover of Tom Petty's "Breakdown."
